STATEMENT FOLLOWING THE ILLEGAL SIEGE OF THE HOUSE OF THE HONORABLE JEAN MICHEL NINTCHEU, NATIONAL PRESIDENT OF THE FRONT FOR CHANGE OF CAMEROON (FCC) AND ACTING NATIONAL COORDINATOR OF THE POLITICAL ALLIANCE FOR CHANGE (APC): STOP POLITICAL BARBARISM IN THE EVE OF A DECISIVE PRESIDENTIAL VOLTAGE FOR CAMEROON
I learned that very early this Saturday, November 2, 2024, the home of the Honorable Jean Michel NINTCHEU, Member of the National Assembly, National President of the Front for Change of Cameroon (FCC), and Interim Coordinator of the The Political Alliance for Change (APC), which supports my candidacy for the next presidential election, was illegally surrounded by police and gendarmes from anti-terrorist units.
This is unacceptable. This state of affairs recalls all the acts of aggression, torture and various and repeated violations of civil and political rights of which the MRC and its activists are victims, in particular since the electoral Hold Up perpetrated by ELECAM and the Constitutional Council for the benefit of the CPDM candidate during the presidential election of October 7, 2018.
The President of the FCC had regularly convened, for this day at his private home in Douala, a meeting of the governing body of his party, which we know includes a limited number of people. We cannot explain the siege of his home and the administrative and police feverishness other than because of his courageous, republican political choices. This behavior of the administrative authorities and the security forces gives a clear indication of what the hawks of the regime plan to do to ensure, they hope, the survival of this worn-out and exhausted regime, which is clinging on in a fit of despair, but which has (no longer) anything to offer Cameroonians and Cameroon.
The people of Change, the Democrats of all sides, must unreservedly condemn this other state barbarity. The usual complicit silence of the CPDM, the main beneficiary of all violations of civil and political rights in our country, carries its historical responsibility.
It must be clear to those who seem to have linked their survival to the maintenance of a political system responsible for our economic and social regression as well as national dishonor, that even with the electoral fraud orchestrated by ELECAM and police terror they will not be able to escape this time again to their political fate: the defeat inflicted by a people who are eager to fly towards their destiny of glory. The Cameroonians are standing up. And nothing will be able to prevent them from liberating themselves by the republican path that they have chosen, namely the path of electoral democracy: neither poverty, the poor quality of life, nor the high cost of living, the advanced dilapidation of infrastructure. of the country revealing the great corruption and embezzlement of public funds, nor the administrative and police provocations, nor the maneuvers and other shenanigans of the dark cabinets of the hawks of the regime which, they seem, are preparing chaos.
The attack on the private home of a Deputy of the Nation, national leader of a political party represented in the National Assembly and in municipalities is a red rag that the authorities would benefit from stopping waving, in the collective interest of the country.
This is why I call on the Government to order the immediate lifting of the siege on the home of the Honorable Jean Michel NINTCHEU and to allow his party, the FCC, to carry out its political activities peacefully, in accordance with the law.
