A man who walks his talk
Time flies and waits for nobody – a fact the City Mayor of Limbe , Paul Efome L.M. Ngale is very aware of and has, thus, resolved to be a go-getter.
Ever since his election and subsequent installation into office in March 2022 as City Mayor, he is leaving no stone unturned to transform his socio-economic blue print for the seaside resort city into reality.
Mr. Ngale, 43,who is Cameroon’s youngest city mayor, on July 23,2022 brilliantly defended a Master’s degree in Political Science (Political Economy) at the Department of Political Science and Comparative Politics, University of Buea, titled “The City Council and Economic Development: An Assessment of the Limbe City Council.”
Pundits agree Divine Providence drove him to choose a research topic on the economic development of a city he would be elected overwhelmingly as its mayor.
The master’s degree came to add to his B.Sc degree in Political Science and Public Management obtained from University of Buea and a Diploma in Human Resource Management he obtained from Pan-African Institute for Development, West Africa (PAID-WA Buea) .
This Limbe CPDM strategist, who is also Secretary-General of Cameroon National Youth Council, is bent on proving that leadership entrusted in the hands of the youth can equally yield the much-needed development for denizens
As a native of Bobende village in Limbe II Subdivision, the City Mayor is even more committed to enhancing development in the Limbe municipality.
Described as people-friendly and development-oriented, City Mayor Ngale has held many strategic meetings with various development stakeholders and begun physical realization of projects, attracting the admiration of authorities and the Limbe public,in particular.
Maiden Historic Town Hall Meeting
The City Mayor, Paul Efome L.M. Ngale on October 14, 2022 chaired the first-ever Town Hall of the institution in the LCC Conference Center, Down-Beach, with hundreds of Limbe denizens from all walks of life in attendance.
He told the huge audience that the purpose of the meeting was to create an enabling environment for greater citizen participation in the development of the city council in a result-based approach.
LCC Secretary-General, Kinge Thompson MOLONGE, briefed Limbe denizens on project realizations, the council’s financial situation from 2019 to 2022. His presentation revealed that LCC owed debts amounting to about two billion FCFA,a situation that caused LCC to drop from first class to a class 3rd class Council since 2021.
But it was revealed that City Mayor Ngale was working very hard to improve the council financial situation, despite the odds.
City Mayor Ngale gladly received contributions, critics and ideas from the participants with regards to brightening the future of the city council
Proposals included the intensification of the fight against all forms of public disorder, especially noise pollution in Gardens quarter, congestion at Church Street caused by road side vendors and the disorder perpetrated by bike riders. The Limbe denizens advised the LCC to embark more on income-generating activities rather than those that call for expenditure.
They urged the City Mayor to construct commercial structures in Mile 2, Mile 4 and in the old market to boost revenue and condemned haphazard construction and non-payment of building permit
Other recommendations to LCC included: protection of the population living in risk zones, digging of boreholes throughout the municipality, deepening and widening of streams and gutters to address floods; improved hygiene and sanitation.
The Town Hall meeting was also to better prepare the 2023 Budget of the city council.
Participants commended the city mayor for convening the meeting and his participatory approach to development, assuring him of support.
Closing the meeting, City Mayor Ngale was thankful for the active participation of denizens, reiterating his resolve to work for the common good.
