Although the customs administration has achieved the expected result over the period concerned, most of the customs sectors have not fulfilled the objectives set for them

Edwin Fongod Nuvaga, Director General of Customs in Cameroon
The Cameroon General Directorate of Customs (DGD) began budgetary exercise with a mobilisation of FCFA 95.333 billion in revenue in January. According to data consulted, this amount represents an achievement rate of 100.3% on the target of 95.055 billion FCFA fixed.
Overall, only three of the 12 customs sectors achieved the objectives assigned to them. This is the South II sector (2nd national contributor in 2024) which collected 32 billion FCFA on 25.2 billion FCFA expected that is an exceeding of nearly 7 billion FCFA for a production rate of 126 , 9%. The centre achieved 137% of its objectives with 650.8 million captured and the North, 628.8 million FCFA for a collection rate of 100.7%.
Conversely, three of the four main providers of customs revenue in Cameroon last year made a timid introduction. This is the case of coast I which collected 56.3 billion FCFA, or 95.1% of its objective. The coastline 2 for its part mobilised 4.2 billion FCFA on the 4.4 billion expected. For its part, the South West sector, 4th contributor to customs revenue in 2024, only captured 859.3 million FCFA against forecasts of 4.1 billion FCFA for a production rate of 20.9%.
Mongue Nyamsi, chief South West Customs Sector, explains this counter-performance by the fact that “he had no petroleum operation. The South West sector has two connections in terms of revenue production. There are turbines considered to be direct (offices) which directly produce the customs clearance of goods that come out of Nigeria, Lomรฉ (Togo). Then, we have hydrocarbons which in reality represent more than 80% of the expectations of revenues โ.
As a reminder, Cameroon tables customs revenue of 1,144 billion FCFA in 2025. If this objective is achieved, customs revenues will have increased by 88.1 billion FCFA in absolute value and 8.3 % in relative value per compared to the 1,055.9 billion FCFA mobilized in 2024. In one month, Cameroon has already achieved 8.33 of its annual objective.
