General Brice Oligui Nguema has said he is giving up his salary as president. The Junta leader said he will only receive a wage as commander of the Republican Guard.
According to the Junta spokesperson, Col Ulrich Manfoumbi, the decision was taken because he is now aware of the social emergencies and many expectations of the Gabonese people.
In order to consolidate the state’s funds, the interim president has slashed down the allowances of law makers, eliminated political funds and also cut session allowances.
