Autonomous Port (PAD) has selected the French company Entreprise Jean Negri et Fils (EJN Negri) to carry out the work to replace the cylindrical berthing fenders on quays 1 to 13 of the port of Douala. According to a press release made public by the PAD, this company was selected for the international call for tenders launched on September 24, 2024.
Cylindrical docking fenders are equipment placed on the edges of quays to prevent impacts and destruction of ship hulls. According to the port authority of the Cameroonian economic capital, the works, the execution of which is planned for 12 months, will be financed to the tune of 2.3 billion FCFA by the budget of the PAD 2024 and following.
This work will allow ships to dock safely without damaging their hulls. This is not the first time that EJN Negri has carried out work at the port of Douala. Specializing in the development of commercial docks and other shipyards, the French company notably built a new multi-purpose dock in 2023 for an amount of 10.2 billion FCFA.
