The Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Prof. Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, has written to the Minister of Territorial Administration (MINAT), requesting the immediate suspension of all football electoral meetings nationwide, including the FECAFOOT elective assembly scheduled for November 29, 2025. The directive aims to reduce growing tensions within the football community and create conditions for a transparent and peaceful electoral process.
According to the ministry, FECAFOOT’s leadership has persisted with an irregular electoral process, defying state authority and ignoring concerns raised by stakeholders and potential candidates.
The ministry cites alleged violations of existing statutes, arbitrary exclusion of certain actors, and the inclusion of fictitious clubs and leagues in the electoral register as major concerns. Despite directives to address these issues, FECAFOOT has failed to comply, prompting the Sports Minister to seek MINAT’s intervention.
The Minister emphasized that the unresolved issues and procedural weaknesses could lead to serious tensions and potentially disturb public order. He stressed that the state has the authority to supervise and sanction sports federations, and FECAFOOT must comply with national regulations and international governing body regulations. The ministry has refused to participate in or validate the proposed elective assembly until the issues are resolved.
