Cameroon’s erstwhile Prime Minister, Yang Philรฉmon, will preside for the first time over the Opening ceremony of the United Nations General Assembly September 22, 2024 in New York – USA. As Yang comes into the picture, the stakes are high and his endowments may play out in the following ways:
Merits
Yang Philemon ha had an extensive political experience especially while serving as Prime Minister of Cameroon from 2009 to 2019, giving him a strong background in international affairs and diplomacy. His diplomatic skill had been nurtured in his early studies and while he served in Cameroon’s diplomatic mission out of the country.
On leadership skills, Yang as Prime Minister was responsible for coordinating government policies and overseeing the executive branch, demonstrating his ability to lead effectively.

Demerits
Though having work in a political set-up in Cameroon as well as foreign diplomatic missions, Yang Philรฉmon lacks experience in international organisations. He has had limited exposure to global issues: As Prime Minister of Cameroon, Yang’s focus may have been primarily on domestic issues, potentially limiting his knowledge of global challenges outside of Africa.
