The university of Buea (UB) has officially welcomed over 12000 students for the 2025-2026 academic year during the Matriculation ceremony held on Saturday, November 22. During the celebration, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Ngomo Horace Manga emphasized the importance of embracing technology in academic pursuits.
The university recently shifted from a mobile money payment system to a bank payment method, which has been a growing problem for the students leading to missed classes for some students who are not able to catch up with the time. While the change led to long queues at banks, Prof. Manga assured that the new system offers greater transparency with clear records and receipts for the university, bank and students.

The post electoral violence that disrupted school activities in most regions had minimal impact on the university, thanks to foresight and pre-emptive adjustments. Prof Manga praised the students’ courage and adaptability, stating, “We have learned to live with it, and our students are very courageous”
Meanwhile the Matriculation figures revealed a growing institution withย 12,457 students admitted including 7900 females and 4,557 males. The Faculty of Science emerged as the biggest ship on land closely followed by faculty of social and management sciences .
