• Achraf Hakimi will face trial in France after denying a 2023 rape allegation made by a 24-year-old woman.
• The Paris Saint-Germain defender says he is confident the trial will reveal the truth, though no hearing date is set.
• Hakimi continues playing for club and the Morocco national football team while awaiting court proceedings.
Achraf Hakimi, defender for Paris Saint-Germain, is expected to stand trial following a rape allegation linked to an incident reported in 2023. The Morocco international strongly rejects the accusation and says he is ready to defend himself in court.
Prosecutors in Nanterre opened an inquiry after a 24-year-old woman alleged that Hakimi assaulted her at his residence in the Paris area.
Although the case has progressed to trial, no hearing date has been announced.
In a message shared online, Hakimi argued that the decision to proceed with a trial based on an allegation alone is unfair to both innocent people and real victims. He stated that he is confident the legal process will clarify the facts.
His lawyer also confirmed that judicial authorities have ordered a trial and said the defence team is prepared to pursue justice.
PSG manager Luis Enrique described the issue as a legal matter while preparing the squad for an upcoming match. Hakimi was included in the team list for the Champions League play-off fixture against AS Monaco.
Despite the controversy, Hakimi remains an important
player for club and country. The 27-year-old defender, who represents Morocco national football team, continues his career as he awaits the court proceedings.
The case now moves toward trial, where the court will examine the evidence and determine the outcome. Hakimi says he expects the hearing to provide clarity and establish the truth.
