The Indomitable lions bow out as Morocco march on their journey at the #totalenergiesafricacupofnation which came to a painful end on Saturday the 9th of January in Rabat, as the Indomitable Lions were defeated 2–0 by hosts nation, Morocco in the quarter-finals.
The highly anticipated game at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, witnessed two goals from Brahim Díaz and Saibari who propelled the Atlas Lions into the semi-finals for the first time since 2004, while drawing the curtain for Cameroon as long as AFCON2025 is concerned.
The defeat was a bitter pill to swallow for the five-time African champions, who had entered the tournament with determination and lots of inspiration with Coach David Pagou as the head.
From the group stages to the knockout rounds, the Lions showcased tactical growth and collective commitment, gradually winning back the confidence of millions of supporters as explained by the FA President

Addressing the players, the President of the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) expressed words of encouragement and consolation, stating that, he acknowledged the pain of elimination while urging the players to remain worthy representatives of the nation. Stressing discipline and unity, he reminded them that football is built on emotion, but also on character, calling on the team to avoid rash reactions and to uphold Cameroon’s values even in defeat.

The FA President praised the players’ collective spirit, emphasizing that their greatest strength lay in their unity and camaraderie. He commended the technical staff for accepting what he described as a “difficult but beautiful mission,” and thanked the wider support team—doctors, nutritionists, security, and administrators—for contributing to a scandal-free campaign.
According to him, this AFCON journey, though unfinished, represented a foundation rather than a failure.
