The Limbe II Subdivision has a new Inspector of Basic Education, as Clara Nduma officially assumed duty in a ceremony marked by optimism and high expectations.
Installed at the Limbe II Council Hall, Nduma received the symbols of office from Serge Albert Meke Ebah Michel, who urged her to hit the ground running.
Armed with a Master’s in History and pursuing a PhD in Curriculum Studies at the University of Buea, the seasoned educator steps into the role with over 16 years’ experience.
Top on her agenda is tackling the persistent “ghost town” Mondays, which have disrupted schooling across the region for years. Authorities want renewed sensitisation to ensure pupils return to classrooms at the start of the week. The DO also challenged her to promote bilingual education, citing the absence of such schools despite a growing Francophone population.
She was further tasked with enforcing national curriculum standards and cracking down on illegal schools operating outside government regulation. Nduma takes over from Agbor Ntui, inheriting a sector with over 80 schools and more than 60,000 learners.
