Lawal Bappah:
The Man behind the Image

His Excellency Lawal Bappah,mni, the New Nigerian Consul-General for the Northwest & Southwest Regions of Cameroon with residence in Buea, is an embodiment of diplomatic experience, having served in different capacities and in different countries as a trusted diplomat for many years.

Lawal Bappah, who turned 59 last July, was born on July 7, 1962 at Darazo town, Bauchi state, Nigeria. This distinguished career diplomat before his current appointment as a Nigerian Consul-General in Cameroon, had served in different countries including Kuwait with concurrent accreditation to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Qatar , Ghana, Morroco and China.

Lawal Bappah also visited several countries on official engagements. These countries included the United States, Brazil, Japan, United Kingdom, France, Saudi Arabia, China, Hong Kong, Pakistan Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi.  

He had dutifully served at different Divisions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria. He had been Director of Programmes at the Directorate of Technical Aid Corps (TAC); served as Director, Asia and Far East Division, European Division, and Americaโ€™s Division.  

Lawal Bappah obtained his primary and secondary certificates from Darazo Central Primary School and Government Secondary School (in Nigeria), respectively. He would later obtain a Bachelorโ€™s degree in History and International Relations from the University of Maiduguri before joining the Nigerian Foreign Service. This patriotic Nigerian attended the Nigerian Foreign Service Academy (FSA) in 1988.  

Lawal Bappah is married and blessed with four children. His hobbies include: reading, travelling and service to humanity.
