Labourers within Fako Division have joined their counterparts around the world to commemorate the 140th edition of International Labour Day, marked with a colourful parade along Manga Williams Avenue Grandstand in Limbe.
Workers and administrators converged in a show of unity under the theme “Social Dialogue and Decent Work: Factors of Peace, National Cohesion and Economic Development in the Company.”
The event brought together participants from various sectors, all highlighting the importance of collaboration in fostering better working conditions and national development.
A significant highlight of this year’s celebration was the participation of the South West Regional Assembly and the Office of the Public Independent Conciliator, alongside other institutions, reflecting growing commitment to labour dialogue and conflict resolution.
Medals were equally awarded in three categories—gold, silver, and bronze—to 264 workers who have distinguished themselves through dedication and excellence in their respective fields.
The commemoration ended on a strong note, reinforcing the role of decent work and social dialogue as key drivers of peace, unity, and economic growth.
