Emmanuel Macron has called for stronger investment in Africa as France and Kenya deepen economic cooperation during the Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi.
Speaking ahead of the summit co-hosted with William Ruto, Macron announced new French-backed projects worth more than €1 billion across Kenya.
Among the major investments is a €700 million plan by CMA CGM to upgrade two terminals at the Port of Mombasa. Another project includes a $225 million expansion of the Kipeto wind power plant.
The two leaders signed 11 agreements covering transport, agriculture, clean energy and nuclear cooperation.
President Ruto said the partnership would benefit both countries equally, adding that Kenya wants balanced relations with global partners while focusing on future opportunities rather than geopolitical divisions.
