Iran has sounded the alarm at the global stage, warning of grave risks following alleged attacks on its nuclear facilities, which it says could trigger serious environmental and humanitarian fallout.

Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, has formally notified the United Nations, the International Atomic Energy Agency, and the United Nations Security Council about what he described as the growing threat posed by potential United States strikes on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.

In a strongly worded communication, Araghchi cautioned that any military action involving the United States and Israel could lead to radioactive leaks, posing a major danger to both human life and the environment across the region.

He emphasized that the nuclear facility in Bushehr, which Iran insists is used strictly for civilian purposes under international supervision, remains highly vulnerable. According to him, any strike on such a site could spark widespread contamination, with cross-border consequences.

The minister further alleged that Iran has faced repeated military aggression, claiming that the United States and Israel have carried out two rounds of attacks within a span of less than nine months, targeting its nuclear assets.
He argued that these actions breach international law, citing violations of United Nations Security Council Resolution 487 as well as established rulings of the IAEA.

Detailing recent incidents, Araghchi said multiple nuclear-related sites were struck several times in March alone. He listed repeated attacks on facilities in Natanz, including strikes early in the month and later coordinated bombardments.

He also pointed to explosions near the Bushehr plant, as well as direct hits on sensitive areas around the facility toward the end of March. Other locations reportedly affected include the heavy water complex in Khondab and the Shahid Ahmadi-Roshan uranium processing site.
