Inspection teams have wrapped up field assessments in Tiko as Fako Division edges closer to announcing its representative for the 2026 Clean City Competition.
Delegation mandated to evaluate councils across Fako Division touched down in Tiko on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, marking a key step in the build-up to the divisional phase of the Clean City Contest.
Team, steered by the Divisional Delegate of Urban Development and Housing for Fako, alongside the Delegate of Environment, Nature Protection and Sustainable Development, carried out on-the-spot checks across strategic locations within Tiko and Mutengene.
Authorities on the ground, including the Divisional Officer for Tiko, Nokuri Samuel, Mayor Peter Ikome Mesoso III, alongside council officials and members of the local organizing committee, guided the mission throughout the exercise.
Inspection trail covered several high-visibility zones such as the DO’s office surroundings, taxation office area, Gendarmerie Brigade in Tiko, the main market, green spaces at CDC Cottage, motor park facilities, and sanitation infrastructure stretching to Mutengene.
Public utilities including toilets at Mutengene Roundabout, GNS Mutengene on Limbe Road, and the Mutengene Subdivisional Hospital also came under the spotlight, with evaluators documenting observations at each stop.
Focus now shifts to the final verdict, as Fako Division prepares to designate the council that will fly its flag at the South West Regional Clean City Contest. Progress was made after the two-hour inspection tour, with Mayor Peter Ikome Mesoso III expressing confidence in Tiko’s chances, citing strong collaboration between the council and residents.
